Hargrave is a small village just a few miles South West of Bury St Edmunds. It currently has around 120 dwellings and a population just over 300.

The Anglo Saxon form of the name HARGRAVE is Haran-grafa with Haran meaning "hare" and grafa meaning "grave" or "trench". There are other versions of where the name originated but this one seems the most likely.

The village sign shows a jumping hare that has become the symbol of the village. The Hargrave village sign was erected on The Green on Saturday July 19th 1986 after taking some time raising the funds.
